Advocacy

  • Individual Advocacy for Children and Families
Individual advocacy with children and families involve attending IEP meetings, problem solving, interaction with school officials, and dispute resolution. This service is limited to those within our service boundaries of Jefferson, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties.

  • Individual Advocacy for Adults
Individual Advocacy for Adults involves attending meetings, problem solving, interaction with state and local systems, and dispute resolution. Of all supports, this one is often the most time-consuming for staff. This service is limited to those within our service boundaries of Jefferson, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties.

  • Systemic Advocacy
Members of The Arc staff and board of directors identify issues with local, state or national impact on individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Strategies are developed to contact legislators, officials and opinion leaders. We also support "grass roots" training efforts to equip people with the tools necessary to advocate for themselves.
