  • I was scheduled for a pick-up today and the truck has not come. Who do I notify?
    Please call (303) 238-5263 to see if the truck is late or still scheduled to arrive. But be reminded that trucks may arrive any time between 8 am and 5 pm for a pickup.

  • Do you take water beds?
    No.

  • Do you take appliances?
    Only free-standing appliances in good condition.

  • Do you take mattresses? What other items cannot be accepted?
    Laws forbid the redistribution of used mattresses so we cannot accept them. Other items that we cannot accept include: aluminum cans, box springs, building materials, carpet padding, cast iron stoves, sinks, tubs, child car seats, copy machines, curtain rods, fencing, flammable liquids, food (except during food drives), furnaces, garage doors/openers, gas logs, glass, hangers, hazardous waste, hot tubs, mangles, metal desks, mirrors without frame, newspapers, oxygen tanks, plastic gutters, propane tanks, scrap metal, scrap paper, sheds, strips of carpet, tires, trash compactors, TV outdoor antennas, water heaters, water softeners, waterbeds and accessories and window blinds.

  • How do I become a guardian for my child?

  • How do I access services for my child?
    In Jefferson, Gilpin or Clear Creek County, call DDRC (303) 233-3363 for information on intake and eligibility.

  • Does the Arc in Jefferson provide emergency funding to individuals with developmental disabilities?
    Yes, emergency funding is available on a limited basis to people with developmental disabilities. Each situation is looked at on an individual basis.

  • What training/seminars are available through The Arc in Jefferson County?
    Please see our Events calendar to find which sessions are currently being offered.

  • Can you come to my child's IEP?
    Our first attempt will be to provide parents with information and techniques to prepare for a successful IEP meeting. With nearly 10,000 students on IEPs in Jefferson County alone, we simply cannot attend every meeting. In cases that involve change of placement or major communication issues, our advocacy can be invited to intervene, at the request of the student, the parent or even school personnel.

  • Can you help me with a social security, Medicaid or other Medicaid benefits?
    Social security and Medicaid issues can be complicated and often require one-on-one advice. Please call Louise Todd, director of individual and family supports at (303) 232-1338.

  • I need a psychiatrist that takes Medicaid and mental health assistance in general. Where can I find one?
    This situation can often be challenging and exhausting for those seeking psychiatric services. Although different situations will demand different supports, the following four resources can be a good place to start:
    1) Parents of children through age 20 may contact the EPSDT Outreach Coordinator at (303) 692-2292. 2) Jefferson Center for Mental Health at (303) 425-0300 when the diagnosis meets certain criteria, 3) one's private insurance and 4) Finally, Empower Colorado is a nonprofit organization created by parents and families to provide Support, Education and Advocacy for parents and families of children with mental health issues (brain disorders).

  • Help, I need childcare or my child is being terminated from the childcare setting...can "they" do that?

  • I need someone to go to court with me. Can you come? Are there legal resources that you can help me with?
    The Arc staff will help advise you on your upcoming court case. We may be also able to assist by making phone calls and processing documents at your request. In some cases we may provide representational advocacy, depending on the nature of the situation.
    Staff are familiar with both private and public/non-profit legal offices and will be happy to assist you in finding the one the best suits your needs.
