New board candidates announced

The nominating committee is proposing a slate of candidates for the Nov. 14 General Membership meeting that includes three new office seekers as well as four hoping to repeat. The new contenders are Jane Barnes, the current president of the Jefferson County board of education, Nora Earnest, an attorney who formerly worked for The Arc of Colorado, and Jake Smith, a vice president for FirstBank of Colorado. Members hoping for re-election are Donna Gunnison, self-advocate, Diane Jurann, self-advocate, Mike Stanley, parent and Sherri Horan, educator.

The slate of officers is proposed as well. Barbara Young will enter her second year of a two-year term as board president; Kathy Ratz, for a 2-year term as vice president; Rachel Baldon, for a 2-year term as secretary, and Jake Smith, for a 2-year term as treasurer.
